Research
Research plays a fundamental role in generating new knowledge and building a better society. The School of Education, through the Research Directorate, encourages and articulates the academics of the different departments and associated units to form the Research Ecosystem, whose objective is to provide social scientific evidence to contribute to the improvement of the educational system both in Chile and in Latin America.
Why do we investigate?
The evidence developed by the team of researchers from the UC Faculty of Education seeks to generate knowledge and transform the educational system through the contribution of new ideas at all levels, together with the participation of main actors such as teachers, students, government entities, political actors, among others.
What have we achieved?

What do we investigate?
Our Faculty is in charge of investigating and analyzing issues related to education such as the impact of public policies and pedagogical practices in Chilean classrooms, the communicative conditions of learning, pedagogical training, among other aspects.
How do we investigate?
The academics of the UC School of Education research through different methodologies and their projects are financed by both external and internal funds from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Also, being a research ecosystem, a large part of the projects are directed and co-directed by our ordinary and special school.

The transfer of research implies the transfer of knowledge and evidence to society and educational communities, in order to improve the quality of life of people, through products and services that impact the development of the country.
Publications
The academic production of the Faculty of Education UC has been consolidating, between 2017 and 2021, both in quality and quantity. In recent years, a large number of articles have been published in scientific journals such as Web of Science, Scopus, Latindex, Scielo, and in reports, books, and book chapters.

'Nobody advances alone': colloquium at UC Education addressed mentoring programs for early-stage academics
Daniela Véliz, Vice Dean of Education at UC, presented the results of her Fondecyt Regular project on mentoring programs for early-career academics at six Chilean universities, addressing their benefits and recommendations for public policy. The event included comments from Solange Rivera, a professor at the UC Faculty of Medicine.

New educational leadership center will strengthen improvement processes in the school system
CELITED will support the educational improvement of 298 establishments in Antofagasta, Metropolitan and Los Ríos for four years, benefiting more than 66 students, under the leadership of the UC Faculty of Education together with the Catholic University Silva Henríquez and the University of Antofagasta.

The CIIE 2026 Congress is preparing to open its virtual platform to receive academic papers.
The platform for submitting academic papers to participate in the Interdisciplinary Congress of Research in Education will be open between June 15 and July 15.
