UC Doctorate in Education participates in the 2025 Virtual Open House

Program members presented the UC Doctorate in Education's research lines, curriculum, and other details to nearly 40 participants.

The UC Doctorate in Education 24 Open House kicked off on June 2025th with the motto "Research to Transform Education." Nearly 40 people gathered online and were welcomed by the program's head, academic Carmen Gloria Zuniga.
El UC Doctoral Virtual Open House It is an instance organized by the Graduate School of the UC Research Vice Presidency, for all those interested in training as excellent researchers.
Attendees learned about the program's origins, which began in 1990 at Campus Oriente, a period during which approximately five students were admitted annually. Currently, the program has graduated 5 doctors in education—both domestic and international—and has a six-year accreditation program and more than 199 regular students.
They were also able to learn more about the main features of the UC Doctorate in Education, the program's internal organization, and the recent opening of new spaces exclusively for program students.
Another aspect addressed at the meeting was the research topics covered by the Program. Carmen Gloria Zúñiga presented the seven lines of research for the PhD program: Teacher training and teacher professional development; Politics, equity and difference in education, leadership and school improvement; Fundamentals and senses of education; Higher Education; School teaching and learning; Early childhood teaching and learning y Educational Measurement and Evaluation.
During the session, the program's curriculum, which covers eight semesters, was also presented; the Transversal Skills Workshops and the degree requirements were presented.


Near closing time, Patricia Imbarak y Gabriel Gutierrez, academics belonging to the Academic Faculty of the UC Doctorate in Education, addressed their areas of study and research. Both academics are part of the 2026 Sponsoring Professors, which you can review. at this link.
