Education UC participates in the first UC Postgraduate Expo fair

The Faculty was present at the event through its Master's in Education UC, Doctorate in Education UC and graduates.

On July 29, the Catholic University of Chile held the first fair "UC Postgraduate Expo”, an activity that sought to concretize in a single place all the educational offer of University , as well as the different diplomas offered by the house of studies. 

La Faculty of Education was present at the event through his Master of Education UC, PhD in Education UC and graduates, and counted with the participation of Natalia Ávila, academic of the Faculty and director of Postgraduate Education UC and the students of the Doctorate in Education Adolfo Rocuant y Paul Barrientos.

The event included a series of modules that allowed those interested to meet the management teams of the UC Education, and also with a dialogue table chaired by the Academic Vice President fernando purcell where the academic Natalia Ávila made an intervention. 

There he referred to the importance of interdisciplinary in the educational investigation, from a project in which he is currently working on writing. Thanks to the joint work of a team made up of three professors, an astronomer expert in methodology, a psychologist expert in educational measurement, and an economist expert in public policies, they are developing a new way of measuring performance in writing, through a experimental study that allowed us to find a way to measure writing that allows 2.36 times more possibilities of write better texts. 

This is just a small example of the interdisciplinary character which is inherent in educational investigation, since it is a discipline that can be illuminated by many fields besides pedagogy: sociology, psychology, economics, philosophy and teaching disciplines. In our doctorate, a space in which we train researchers in education, interdiscipline is lived in various ways: teachers with training in various disciplines, students from different disciplines and the research ecosystem in which they are inserted in interdisciplinary investigations”, explained the academic Natalia Ávila.
