The focus of the CIIE will be “Education at the service of society. Meaning, horizon and role of educational research in a time of change”“Its seventh edition aims to highlight the central role of educational research in generating evidence, discussion, and proposals that will advance what UNESCO (2023) has called a 'new social contract,' contributing to a sustainable and just society,” says Mauricio Pino Yancovic, general coordinator of the CIIE Executive Committee and adjunct researcher at CIAE. In this context, the event will be a space for meeting, reflection, and knowledge dissemination, allowing for reflection on the meaning, scope, and role of educational research, with an interdisciplinary and pluralistic perspective for Chile and Latin America.

The CIIE is held every two years. In the previous version, held in 2024, the Congress brought together more than 1.200 attendees and more than 650 exhibitors, with an average of 160 presentations per day and with a wide variety of topics covered: school coexistence, curriculum analysis, special educational needs, migration and school segregation, gender inequality, evaluation practices, initial teacher training, educational trajectories, quality assurance, educational leadership, democracy and citizenship, educational justice and continuous improvement, among others.

In this 2026 call for papers, in addition to addressing these and other emerging topics, various presentation formats will be considered—papers, posters, and symposia—in three categories: conceptual or theoretical papers, empirical studies, and literature reviews. The congress's research areas, as well as the requirements and details for submitting papers, will be available soon on the official CIIE 2026 website.
