UC Pedagogy Practicum Coordinators promote workshops for more inclusive educational communities

November 17, 2025

The initiative seeks to strengthen the inclusive training of future teachers through reflective workshops in educational establishments, in collaboration with the UC Inclusion Directorate and the Pedagogical Practices System.

With the purpose of promoting the participation under equitable conditions of student teachers in the eight Pedagogy programs of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC), the UC Pedagogical Practice System, lead by Aurora Badillo, developed in collaboration with UC Inclusion Directorate a series of reflective workshops aimed at strengthening more inclusive educational communities in schools, high schools and colleges.

This initiative is part of the project “Link between University and School for inclusive teacher training”, initiated in 2024, which coordinates the joint work between the Frankfort City School (SLEP Gabriela Mistral), the program PIANE UC and the UC Internship System. Its objective is to address inclusion in educational communities and project this approach towards teachers and educators in training.

During the meetings, led by the UC Pedagogy practice coordinators, participants reflected on the importance of extending the concept of inclusion to all members of the school community. Through interactive activities and storytelling, they identified facilitators and barriers to implementing practices that recognize differences without exclusion. The sessions included the participation of school leadership teams, special education teams, teachers, and educators.

The cycle will culminate on December 16 and 18 with a workshop at UC, led by the UC Inclusion Directorate. This year the coverage of establishments was expanded and an increase is projected for 2026.
