As part of Coexistence Week, organized by the Restorative Justice Network in Chilean Universities, UC hosted a day of workshops and talks for representatives from more than ten higher education institutions.

With the aim of promoting a culture of peace in educational contexts, the UC Faculty of Education, together with the Ombuds Office and the UC Student Affairs Directorate, hosted the first day of activities of the Coexistence Week from a restorative perspective, held on Monday, May 5.
The initiative was organized by the Restorative Justice Network in Chilean Universities, in partnership with the UC, the University of Chile, the Metropolitan Technological University, and the University of O'Higgins, and featured the special participation of international expert Katia Ornelas, recognized for her work in restorative justice and peace processes.

During the event, an awareness-raising event was held with the participation of representatives from more than 10 Chilean universities, including legal departments, gender departments, mediation offices, student affairs departments, undergraduate programs, and community development departments. Members of the University's Coexistence and Mental Health Commission also attended. Council of Rectors (CRUCH) and the College of Mediators of Chile.
This space highlighted the value of prevention, addressing the root causes of coexistence situations, and the predominant role of dialogue in peacebuilding in educational contexts.
In the afternoon, a workshop was held at the UC Faculty of Education for teams that facilitate coexistence processes in higher education institutions. The workshop addressed the ethical, theoretical, practical, and methodological dilemmas these teams face in their respective institutions.
