The academic was presented on February 09 at the BEAR Seminar from the Graduate School of Education at the University of California Berkeley, and on February 18, he presented at the EdD program at the School of Education at San José State University. The title of the talks were Institutional Admissions Programs Searching for Equity in Chile's Higher Education: Theory of Action and Results and Scrutiny and Support: Recent Accountability Efforts in Chile.

The broadcast at UC Berkeley explained that “for the last 5 years, A group of selective universities in Chile have implemented admission systems that consider high school grades of the students, in the context of the learning opportunities that they actually had, to reduce the importance that the University Transition Test (PDT) currently owns”.

The research that Professor Santelices presented in the US explores these special admission programs and the effects on the academic results obtained by their benefited students, with the objective of contributing with information and statistics to the reforms aimed at eliminating the problem of equity in Chilean higher education.

Upon returning from her trip, Professor Santelices thanked the support of the Faculty of Education, indicating that "the internationalization of knowledge and the feedback that Chilean academics obtain from academics and students from foreign universities also serve to strengthen our standards and apply them during development. of our investigations and the preparation of our students”.

The research of María Verónica Santelices, PhD in Education from the University of California Berkeley, includes educational measurement and educational policy. She has published in the Harvard Educational Review, Educational Psychological Measurement, and Higher Education magazines. She is currently the editor-in-chief of the PEL Educational Thought magazine.
