Pedagogical Training Program carries out I Artistic Meeting with learning experiences of its teachers in training
November 7, 2022

From October 25 to 27, 43 teachers in training participated together with their students from practice centers in a diverse sample of visual, musical and stage creations.
A milestone in the training of new teachers is what was experienced in the First Artistic Encounter that the Pedagogical Training Program (PFP) developed between October 25 and 27 at the Faculty of Education. A sample of visual, musical and scenic artistic creations that they prepared 43 PFP students during their learning experiences in 20 educational establishments in which these disciplines are developed. The activity was inaugurated by the Dean Alejandro Carrasco, who valued this space that accommodates the arts and that he hopes will be projected with other UC pedagogies, since "these are an essential part in the formation of human beings."
For 3 days, More than 100 students from 9 schools attended in person and participated with their music, choir and dance groups accompanied by their teachers in training. In addition, panels and digital spaces were installed with the works of those establishments that could not attend and that evidenced the products made in visual arts in the school. In this process, the supervisors played a fundamental role by accompanying the work of these 43 students who guided the learning of almost 300 schoolchildren.
"We had the opportunity to observe the virtuous cycle of mentoring that leads to learning through presentations by students, who were accompanied by their student teachers and, in turn, guided by their cooperating teachers and supervising teachers. I hope this event continues over time, expanding participation to more students in their internships and welcoming students with their artistic expressions year after year," she noted. Florencia Gómez, head of the Internship system and who led this activity together with the team made up of Philip Porflitt, Aurora Badillo, María de los Ángeles García and Bernardita García, and the PFP supervisors of the artistic areas.
Macarena Uzcategui, a performing arts teacher in training, participated with her students in the Bicentennial Lyceum Italy who presented an excerpt from a musical and greatly appreciated this instance. "It is very nice that they can have the experience of what is lived in the professional field with the arts and that their work is valued." A similar opinion was held by one of her students, Fernanda Romero, who felt the support of the public during her act, "it was a different and learning experience," she commented.
Claudia Rivera, internship supervisor and PFP performing arts teacher, valued this formative instance, since it allowed “the school to come to the Faculty, we do research for and for the students. It is very gratifying to be able to see the artistic result of our teachers in training, and it is also an opportunity to show cultural management to our teachers”.
