Reunion: UC Education Community celebrates Opening of the 2022 Academic Year

The instance, which had sanitary measures, was carried out in person after two years of pandemic and distancing. The celebration brought together close to 300 people including academics, academics, administrators and hundreds of UC Pedagogías students.

For the first time, after two years of pandemic, the community of the Faculty of Education UC celebrated the welcome of the new academic year in person and with all the sanitary precautionary measures. The last time this activity was carried out on the ground was in March 2019, therefore, the space served to welcome the generations of students who entered in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The ceremony called "Opening of the Academic Year 2022" was visited by the Chancellor of the Catholic University Ignacio Sánchez, who shared a few words with the students of the UC Pedagogies. “We have a special commitment to the country's education, since the development of the new generations rests on it. For this reason, we want to contribute with quality to the training of boys, girls and young people, ”she said.

In his speech, and in the context of the presidential replacement on March 11, he pointed out the importance of strengthening the educational area both from schools and from government spaces: “We have to ensure that the Ministry of Education does not have less international quality advisors than a Ministry of Finance, to really transform our educational capacities with comparative evidence. Education must be the means that allows opening opportunities”.

More than 300 people were present at the event, including students, academics, and administrators, who gathered in the Patio de la Virgen of the Faculty of Education. The Dean of Education UC, Alejandro Carrasco, thanked the request and took advantage of recognizing the different levels that make the training of teachers possible, within the framework of the 80 years of the unit that "since 1942 has trained around 30 thousand teachers for the country”, he pointed out at the opening ceremony.

"That is the magnitude that our faculty has had for the country," added the dean, addressing the more than 500 new students who are joining the bachelor's degree in 2022. UC Pedagogy: “You are joining a faculty that has grown a lot and will continue to do so, especially strengthening the educational richness of our programs and the management of our careers. Welcome and welcome. This is her house".

The activity, which took place outdoors and included various health security measures, also had the participation of the Vice Dean, Pilar Cox, who directed the ceremony, the president of the Student Center for Pedagogy in Physical Education and Health, Esther Rojas, and the dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Alejandro Toro-Labbe, who participated in the creation and strengthening of the UC Interfaculty Pedagogies.

The Opening of the Academic Year 2022 culminated with a discussion entitled “Research, transfer and education: How does UC Education impact the country’s educational justice?”, where three academics presented projects that highlight the importance of knowledge transfer to society for educational improvement:
