November 13, 2025

In the workshop, led by the Argentine academic Natalia Cantarelli, participants collectively reflected on the challenges and possibilities of Comprehensive Sexuality Education in school and university contexts.

On October 22, 2025, the Gender Branch The workshop was conducted by the Faculty of Education at UC. “Plotting and desiring: paths of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)”, dictated by Natalia Cantarelli, academic of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and a specialist in Comprehensive Sexuality Education.

The meeting brought together Pedagogy students and academics from the Faculty and people from other academic units, creating a diverse and open space to collectively reflect on the current challenges of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in both school and university contexts.

During the session, Cantarelli addressed key aspects for understanding Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) from a critical and situated perspective, highlighting the importance of considering desire, the body, emotions, and power relations within educational processes. Using examples and practical experiences, the academic invited participants to envision ways of experiencing education that center care, respect, and autonomy, promoting the development of more inclusive educational communities.

The activity took place in the STEM Room of the Faculty, inaugurating the 1st Congress on Comprehensive Sexuality Education which took place in our Faculty, seeking to strengthen the knowledge and implementation of non-sexist training approaches in initial teacher training.

For the Gender Sub-Directorate, these types of initiatives enable necessary dialogues around Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) in Chile, especially considering current debates and the urgency of moving towards more democratic educational spaces that respect sexual and gender diversity.
