Alejandro Carrasco Rozas
Dean

Alejandro Carrasco is Dean of the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University. He is also a Doctor of Education from the University of Cambridge, UK, and Associate Professor at the UC School of Education. Between 2016 and 2021 he served as director of the Center for the Study of Policies and Practices in Education (CEPPE UC).
Its functions
The dean is the highest authority of the Faculty of Education. His main functions are to represent, or delegate said representation, in institutional, union, academic and disciplinary matters, referring to the unit.
Some tasks that correspond to you are:
- Lead the definition, monitor and ensure the development of a Strategic Plan aimed at fulfilling the mission of training teachers, developing high-standard educational research and impacting the educational system.
- Take care of the climate of university concord and participation within the faculty.
- Call and chair the sessions of the Faculty Council, consult it and keep it adequately informed about the strategic decisions of the faculty; as well as ensure compliance with its statutes.
- Direct and monitor the management of the set of Directorates that make up the faculty, the secretary of the faculty and the administrative staff.
- Design and manage an academic development policy that offers development opportunities and strengthens the multiple capacities of the academic plants that make up the Faculty of Education, within the framework of the existing complementary regulations for that purpose.
- Represent the Faculty of Education, ensure opportunities and link with the top management of the Catholic University, with other relevant faculties and centers, as well as with the larger context and environment that includes the educational and university system, the world of public policies and civil society.
