In the instance, held on the first floor of the Interfaculty Pedagogies building, eleven fifth-year students received the pick that will accompany them during their face-to-face practices in different schools in the Metropolitan Region.

If there is an element that differentiates the programs from the Faculty of Education from the Catholic University, is the central role that early practices (from the first year) have in the training of future teachers. This is the case of Pedagogy in English for Basic and Secondary Education, delivered between the UC Faculties of Education and Letters, which this year invested eleven fifth-year students to begin their professional practices in person.

As of the second semester, the students have training experiences in the field in the classrooms of different educational facilities in the country, a reality that was altered between 2020 and 2021 when they had to carry them out remotely. After this journey, which begins in the first year, future teachers enter their professional practice in the fifth year of their degree. The beginning of this last stage is the one held in the Investiture Ceremony for Professional Practices 2022, held on Tuesday, April 12, on the first floor of the Interfaculty Pedagogies, where students received a pick with their names, an element that will accompany them throughout said period.

For Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education, Pilar Cox, who participated in the instance, “This moment is especially relevant for us as the Faculty of Education, and also, by the way, for the Faculty of Letters, because UC Pedagogies focus their curriculum on practice. We have a training model that defines itself and achieves its identity in it”.

The internships are the closest process to working in the classroom, said the authority, "and will allow them to test and learn with the support of the supervisors, as well as their peers, learning from each other."

The activity was attended by different authorities from the Catholic University, such as the Academic Vice Rector, fernando purcell, and the dean of the Faculty of Letters, Patrick Lizama. The director of the career of Pedagogy in English for Basic and Secondary Education, Leyla Lobos, pointed out that "we want to wish our future teachers the greatest success at this stage."
