Our School's Pedagogical Training Program (PFP) is focused on graduates who wish to study Secondary Education Pedagogy in the areas of arts, sciences, humanities and mathematics.

About this degree

This program is a opportunity for graduates who want to train as teachers of Secondary Education. Depending on the discipline of your degree, you can apply to different areas: artistic (Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Music Education), humanities (Language and Communication, English, History, Philosophy and Religion and Morals) and Sciences and Mathematics (Natural Sciences and Biology , Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics).

Curriculum

The curriculum of the Pedagogical Training Program (PFP) emphasizes teacher training and articulates the reconfiguration of knowledge of the discipline of his degree, in such a way that he can also work interdisciplinary and meet the challenges that current education is demanding. In addition to disciplinary knowledge and its didactics, pedagogical knowledge on evaluation, curriculum, learning and development, ethics, management of learning environments, education and society, and applied research methodologies are integrated.. All these opportunities are articulated with practical experiences in the field with different levels of complexity from the beginning of the training. 

All this study plan prepares graduates to responsibly take charge of the different professional challenges that they will address from the beginning of their degrees, becoming future educators with a professional and ethical teaching identity with the UC seal. 


Credits

The Pedagogical Training Program (PFP) of the UC School of Education requests the following credits to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Education and the title of teacher in Secondary Education. 

First semester: 

  • Development and learning of the adolescent: 10 credits
  • Management of heterogeneous classrooms: 10 credits
  • Curriculum: 10 credits
  • Assessment in Secondary Education: 10 credits.
  • Didactics of the specialty I: 10 credits.
  • Initial Practice 10 credits. 

Second semester: 

  • Education and society: 10 credits
  • Professional ethics in education: 10 credits
  • Research Seminar in Secondary Education: 10 credits. 
  • Didactics of the specialty II: 10 credits
  • Professional practice: 20 credits

Theological Formation Course: 10 credits. 


College life

The program offers interdisciplinary training with specialization in Science and Mathematics, Arts, and Humanities for future educators.


Requirements

The students who apply to the Pedagogical Training Program (PFP), they must consider the following aspects for admission:

  • Comply with the requirements of Law 20.903:
    • Be in possession of the specialty degree.
    • Comply alguno of these requirements:
      • Have taken the university selection test or the instrument that replaces it, and obtain a performance that places you in the 50th percentile or higher, which is the equivalent of 502 average points or more in the mandatory tests.
      • Have a high school grade average within the top 30% of your educational establishment, according to the respective regulations.
  • Demonstrate written and oral communication skills in the letter of intent and in the interview.
  • Demonstrate disciplinary mastery.

The teachers of Secondary Education are professionals capable of teaching, in the specialties of sciences, mathematics, humanities and arts, from educational levels from 7th grade to 4th year of secondary education, both in educational establishments and in public and private institutions. Likewise, they can be part of a research team and generate the necessary educational material to improve the learning of children and adolescents.
