exhibition of high school students

The instance materialized in the course "School Innovation", given to first-year students of the career. In the exhibition, the students presented an initiative that seeks to address student motivation and school retention.

Promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge. That was the objective of the visit of a group of students from the Vate Vicente Huidobro Commercial High School, from the commune of San Ramón, to the classrooms of Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education UC, where they shared innovation experiences and presented a project focused on teachers.

This initiative is framed in the Entrepreneurship and Employability subject, integrated into the fourth-secondary curriculum of technical-professional high schools, and seeks students to propose innovative projects and services in different areas. This instance is aligned with the contents of the subject "School Innovation", Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education. Therefore, for Veronica Cabezas, professor of the course taught in the first year of the degree, “The main objective of the meeting was that they could ask them questions, interact with the group and learn from their work”.

Ideas to face desertion

“Bangu” is the name of the project generated by Francisco Silva, Maria Fernanda Reyes and Consuelo Pizarro, 4th grade students who won the inter-school Business Plans contest of the Comeduc Educational Foundation, and that was shared with the Pedagogy students. The project, they explained, seeks to address the problems of student demotivation and school retention through an app based on goals, which encourages student participation, strengthens their sense of belonging to the school and also offers feedback for teachers. and their educational institutions.

According to figures from the Ministry of Education, up to 2020 there were 186 thousand boys, girls and young people who had dropped out of the school system, and in 2021 nearly 40 thousand were added.. “Knowing that many people like us no longer go to high school due to lack of motivation surprised us. That is why we want to integrate this point again, so that students once again have the motivation to go to high school, to feel good there”, commented María Fernanda Reyes, one of the students leading the initiative.

And why Bangu? As explained by the student Francisco Silva, who is also part of the project, "it is a Chinese drum that directs the orchestra and the rhythm, and from there the project was born, which can direct the teaching and values of an institution."
