Academic Ernesto Treviño is appointed Professor of Education UC

The professor has stood out for his participation in national and international projects on topics such as civic education, classroom learning, and educational equity.

The Honorable Superior Council of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile unanimously resolved to appoint the academic Ernesto Trevino Villarreal as tenured professor of the Faculty of Educationthus gaining recognition highest in UC academic career.

The development granted by the academic to UC Education is reflected in the creation and consolidation of the UC Center for Educational Transformation (UC CENTER), where he is director. It is also reflected in his contributions as principal investigator from the Center for Educational Justice (ECJ) to research associate Center for the Study of Policies and Practices in Education (CEPPE).

Professor Treviño currently teaches in the Program of UC Early Childhood Education and in quantitative methods of PhD in Education UC.

 

An academic with an international perspective

In 1991 Professor Treviño obtained his Bachelor's degree in economics of the Technological Institute and of Superior Studies of Monterrey, Mexico. After that she traveled to the United States to study the Master in International Educational Policy in the Biomedical Engineering faculty at Harvard University in 1997, the same house of studies where 6 years later he would obtain the degree of doctor in Education, mention in administration, planning and social policy.

The academic production of Ernesto Treviño has positioned him as an international benchmark in areas such as civic education, classroom learning and educational equity, also contributing to topics such as school segregation, special education or the role of large scale assessments. He has also collaborated with organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, OEI, OEA and other international entities. He first of April of the year 2016, the academic joined the UC School of Education as professor associated.

Ernesto Treviño is probably one of the expert voices in education most prominent in Chile and other countries in the region, says the dean of Education UC Alejandro Carrasco.

Carrasco considers it remarkable that Professor Treviño "is linked in the same way and commitment with the public and private sphere linked to educational work”. As a whole, he explains, “he has guided his career by bringing a breadth of educational paradigms, insights, and approaches to the table. at the service of transforming lives and opportunities. He is a full member of our university, committed to advancing its values ​​and dedicated to contribute to its national and international impact".
