Research skills in future teachers

Macarena Yancovic has a degree in Education and Early Childhood Educator from the Catholic University, a teacher of Basic General Education, a Master's in Education and a PhD in Educational Sciences.

Yancovic began his presentation by raising the most common myths that exist around educational research. “The first is that educational research is different from practice. “As a teacher I don't have to do research. I am not a researcher, I am a teacher, I dedicate myself to teaching children'. That is the first myth that exists and it is not like that, because research informs us and research provides evidence for improvement".

The second myth is that academic research is separate from practice research. Although they are two different investigations, he assures, they coexist. For example, in research in practice, professors are informed of academic research, but can also participateMany times there are researchers who collaborate with the professors in the room”.

The next UC Education colloquium will be in charge of Javiera Marfán, academic at the Faculty. Will be performed May 3 at 13:00 p.m., and is entitled “Schools deciding the purpose of education: The implementation of policies to expand school goals in a context of accountability with high consequences”.
