UC Faculty of Education is awarded 9 Regular Fondecyt 2023

Of the 9 awards given by ANID, 6 are as lead investigator and 3 as co-investigator.

 

This week, the National Research and Development Agency (ANID) announced the results of the 2023 Fondecyt Regular Contest, where the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University of Chile obtained a total of 9 awards for members of the Faculty, being 6 of them as lead investigator and 3 as co-investigator.

Alejandro Carrasco, dean of the UC Faculty of Education, pointed out that "these projects make us happy and confirm our commitment as a Faculty to continue providing quality evidence to improve teaching practices, pedagogical strategies and educational institutions that favor learning and integral development of the new generations”.

“It is a background very competitive nationally. We are very happy with the result of our Faculty, since these projects contribute from different perspectives and topics to improve our educational system”He added Daniela Véliz, Director of Research at the UC School of Education.

Among the projects awarded as a researcher in charge is that of the academic mario quintanilla, entitled "Identification and characterization of argumentative and explanatory skills in chemistry and biology teachers in initial training. His contribution to professional teacher development from a socio-scientific perspective”.

El investigador Christopher Villalobos, deputy director of Center for Policy and Practice in Education UC (CEPPE UC), will be in charge of the projectPhilanthropy in the Chilean school system. Privatization, governance and educational policy in the age of philanthrocapitalism”, and the academic Susana Mendive will develop the project "Intervention based on reading a personalized digital book to foster narrative skills at home with low SES kindergarten children: an implementation and impact study”.

the academic Solar Horace will carry out the research "Teacher Noticing for promote math skills of modeling and argumentation through a accompaniment based on the use of videos between middle leaders and teachers. the academic Rodrigo Henriquez will develop the project "Latin America in Latin American historiography: concepts, problems, practices and programs in the XXI century".

viviana gomez, academic of UC Villarrica Campus, will carry out the investigation "What is learned in the progressive practices? An analysis from different actors”, where the academic will participate as a co-investigator Florencia Gómez.

Among the other projects awarded as co-investigator is also the research in which Mario Quintanilla participates, "Evaluation of the teacher rationing and pedagogical knowledge of biodiversity content in practicing biology teachers: theoretical and methodological contributions to guide professional development”, and the project in which the academic participates Natalia Ávila, “Written feedback on the disciplines?What feel, do and decide university students in front of the written comments received in the elaboration of academic works?
