New leaders assume positions in the Faculty of Education

These are the academics Malba Barahona and Aurora Badillo, who join the leadership of the Undergraduate Department and the Practice System, respectively.

As of August 2023, XNUMX, the UC Faculty of Education It has new leaders, who assumed the leadership of the Undergraduate Direction of the Faculty and the Practicum Programme. It's about academics Malba Barahona y Aurora Badillo, who relieved the academics Magdalena Muller y Florencia Gómez.  

El dean of education UC Alejandro Carrasco he valued the work delivered by Müller and Gómez, as well as the mark they left in the performance of their positions. 

“We thank Magdalena Müller for her fundamental role in the development of our undergraduate. His work has been outstanding and his generosity unique. Magdalena has completed 14 years of service to the Faculty: 10 as promoter and manager of the Practicum Programme and 4 as director of Undergraduate. In all these years, she has contributed to consolidating a training model focused on practice, founding and socializing her pedagogical convictions in the best global evidence on teaching and learning, ”said Carrasco.

On Practicum Programme, indicated that it has reached maturity thanks to the dedicated work of Professor Florencia Gómez in these two years. 

“During his tenure in an intense and limited period of time, he played an outstanding role in achieving key goals of the Initial Teacher Training Project. It endowed the practices with a transversal and articulated seal within the intra and interfaculty UC Pedagogies; it fostered training and collaborative learning spaces, both among the practice supervisor teachers, as well as with the collaborating teachers of the practice network, among other achievements, ”she mentioned.

He also had words for the academics who join the leadership of both positions. About Malba Barahona thanked him for his "immediate commitment and vital enthusiasm in accepting this immense responsibility in the Undergraduate Direction. I would like to highlight the solid pedagogical, professional and academic trajectory that Malba has accumulated, both in Chile and internationally, experience that as a whole will overturn the conduct of our initial teacher training". 

Regarding Practicum Programme, expressed joy and tranquility with the fact that Aurora Badillo is the one who assumes the leadership. “Aurora, she has proven experience and knowledge of our Practice System, where she has worked with professionalism and passion for more than five years in different responsibilities. She has a very solid academic background, which she is expanding with doctoral studies, and with an innovative and reflective vision on the practical training of future teachers built through multiple FONDEDOC projects”, concluded Carrasco.
